Band of Brothers is a popular HBO miniseries based on Stephen L. Ambroise book Band of Brothers. The series tells the story of the men of Easy company, of the 101st screamin eagles, from training camp, through Operation Overload and Operation Market Garden and finally ends with their last deployment of the war in Bastogne. With an all star cast and an average rating of nine and a half stars I think that it is one of the best miniseries to ever capture the brutality of war and the sacrifice that our soldiers made to preserve our freedom.Watch a short clip from the Bastogne episode here.
This war movie directed by Steven Speilberg is one of the most well known war movies of our time. This movie also shows the horrors of war along with all the psychological effects of losing loved ones and killing other people. The movie is about a soldier who is the last of a mother's four sons. The other four had been killed in other areas during the war. After the landing on the beaches, an infantry squad led by Tom Hanks character is sent to retrieve him
because he was part of the 101st airborne assault force. I like this movie because it shows how human our soldiers are and that they are greatly impacted by war psychologically.
Brothers In Arms is based on the true story of the 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment of the famed 101st Airborne Division who were dropped behind German Lines on D-day. The game is based on Operation Chicago where the player has to complete true to life missions of the 101st. From securing Exit 4 to the capture of St.Come-Du-Mont, Brothers In Arms delivers one of the most authentic WWII experiences to date. The sequel Brothers In Arms: Earned in Blood is also based on the last missions of the 101st, such as Link up with 82nd Airborne Division and
capture St. Saveur. You play the role of Sergeant Matt Baker, a paratrooper (based on Harrison C. Summers and various other people), and the leader of an airborne squad from Fox Company. The missions range from dropping into France on June 6th to the final defense of Hill 30 eight days later.*
The story is essentially told as a "reflection" on the events that took place earlier, as a Colonel S.L.A. Marshall is interviewing paratroopers some time after D-Day. The story is divided into three parts. The first part of the game is recollection of Hartsock's time in Bakers squad during the initial D-Day invasion. The second part picks up when he takes command of 2nd Squad, 3rd Platoon during the defense and the libration of Carentan, and the eventual link up between 82nd and 101st Airborne Division at the city of Baupte. The final part
will take place in and around St. Sauveur. Although the first part takes place under Baker's command, every mission is one not included in Road to Hill 30. The player commands Desola, Allen, and Garnett from 3rd Squad, and some soldiers from 2nd Squad at first. Then the game switchs the player to command the entire 2nd Squad after the Battle of Bloody Gulch (Hill 30).*
